ACCREDITATIONS AND
ONGOING IMPROVEMENT
FIA’s Ongoing Improvement and Innovation
FIA and its Governing Board are committed to ongoing improvement efforts to maintain the highest standards in all aspects of its operation and educational offer. To that end, FIA has engaged several external communities of registration, accreditation and educational agencies against which to gauge its progress and educational values.
This is achieved through working with these key institutions of excellence:
- Jamaican Ministry of Education, Youth and Information (MoEYI)
- NEASC (New England Association of Schools and Colleges)
- CIE (Commission on International Education)
FIA’s Ongoing Improvement and Innovation
- Meeting criteria for effective independent school accreditation practices;
- Meeting exemplary standards that promote continuous school improvement;
- Abiding by successful accreditation policies and procedures; and Engaging in research to understand and apply accreditation policies, standards and practices.
- Helping our stakeholders and local communities develop a public understanding of, and respect for, the independent, international school accrediting programs of the member associations.
Accountability
As a NEASC member association, we at FIA are accountable to one another through a process patterned on the independent school accreditation model. Over the course of a 10-year cycle, associations prepare a self-study demonstrating compliance with the Criteria for Effective Accreditation Practices. The criteria provide common ground for member associations by delineating best practices, policies, and procedures.
As part of the accreditation process, FIA:
- Hosts a visit from a team composed of commission members;
- Receives written recommendations from the commission; and
- Engages in follow-up activities designed to improve the school and the terms presented in the accreditation process.
