Co-curricular Activities

FIA students are passionate about their work in the classroom and outside of it in the ways they make a full schedule of every day. For them, keeping the momentum of the school day means transitioning to a variety of clubs, organizations, sports and lessons, on and off campus. It is in FIA’s highest interest to coordinate these co-curricular developments to be consistent with the mission and vision of the school, along with its curriculum.

At FIA, students interested in local and global service projects participate in the Key Club, while others sign up for the Chess Club, swimming, the school’s soccer programme, the Technology and Robotics Club, The Culinary Club meet over lunch to taste each other’s creations from the world cuisine chosen for that week while the Yearbook Club have lunch meetings once a week to plan and lay out the yearbook for its spring release. Obviously, the representatives of the Student Council are elected to their respective positions and meet regularly to encourage and inspire their constituency. The President also serves on the PTSA (Parent Teacher and Student Association) to help bring our community together with events. When there is enough interest, new clubs form and faculty serve as advisors for the affinity group. Due to significant interest among students and staff, the latest ones added have been SCUBA, held at a Sandals pool and adding dives from those shores. Not surprisingly, our history teachers is expanding on our global vision from the curriculum by adding Model United Nations, a club that not only garners interest within FIA but pits our students against “ambassadors” at other secondary schools for mock assemblies and lots of stimulating fun!

This full variety of affinity groups meets at lunch periods, before or after school. All have an FIA staff member or hired outside coach/mentor to supervise and direct the activities. Some current examples include, but are not limited to: Chess Club, Soccer Club, Yearbook Staff, SCUBA Certification, Culinary Club, Technology and Robotics Club, FIA Swim Team, Key Club, JCDC and Student Government.

Certain co-curricular activities can include competitive events, which FIA supports.
